Through Act 952 of 2015, Arkansas students in grades seven through 12 must receive instruction on dating violence awareness. Participants learn foundational knowledge about dating abuse, methods for intervention and instruction on how to implement a Healthy Relationships 101 session with their students or youth group.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), domestic violence is a serious, preventable public health problem that affects more than 32 million Americans.

This number only reflects the number of cases that are reported; it’s estimated that in the United States, as many as one third of domestic violence cases are never reported.

Increased attention to domestic abuse began during the women’s movement, and violence against women has continued to be a major focus of modern feminism, and is now synonymously known as intimate partner violence or IPV.

Domestic violence shouldn’t ever happen to anyone, but it does.

Partnering with the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Arkansas Department of Education and Break the Cycle, the Attorney General's office offers training opportunities for educators, school resource officers and others on dating abuse prevention and intervention methods.
